Chinese-Canadian actor Kris Wu gets 13 years of jail

IANS

Chinese-Canadian musician and actor Kris Wu has been sentenced to 13 years of jail term by a Chinese court on Friday.

As per the report, Wu was found guilty of rape and socially inacceptable behaviour with minors. The report further added that the actor will be deported after finishing the sentence. In August last year, Wu was arrested after his case was heard in June.

Allegations on the actor surfaced in July 2021 after 18-year-old beauty industry influencer Du Meizhu took to social media to accuse him of date-raping her when she was 17 and drunk. She also alleged that Wu has done the same thing to two other minor girls. While Wu denied the allegations, he was subsequently arrested after Chaoyang District People's Procurator issued official statement of arrest after "investigation in accordance with the law".

Wu has appeared in Hollywood films like XXX: Return of Xander Cage, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. Among the Chinese films, Wu has starred in Guan Hu's Mr. Six and  L.O.R.D. Legend of Ravaging Dynasties.
