Korean actor Oh Yeong-su, who shot to fame for his role in hit Netflix series Squid Game, has been charged with sexual misconduct charges. However as per a Variety report, the actor has been released without detention.

According to South Korean prosecutors, the 78-year-old actor has been accused of inappropriately touching a woman sometime in mid-2017. While the woman had filed a complaint in December 2021, the case was closed in April this year. However it was reopened upon the survivor's request. Oh has denied the allegations posed on him.

In a statement given to Korean broadcaster JTBC, Oh was quoted as saying, “I just held her hand to guide the way around the lake. I apologized because [the person] said she wouldn’t make a fuss about it but it doesn’t mean that I admit the charges.”

In addition, as per AFP report, the Korean ministry of culture has pulled a government television advertisement featuring the actor, following the indictment.

Oh played the oldest participant in Squid Game. The role earned him a Golden Globe Award for best supporting actor as well as Primetime Emmy nomination for outstanding supporting actor in drama series.
